Our second season starts off with friendship throughout ALL seasons with A Year With Frog and Toad! This Tony award winning musical is sure to be a favorite with all ages.

About the Show...

Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe... all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

Meet the Cast!

BENJAMIN NGUYEN (Frog) is delighted to be starring in PLAY Theatre Production's A Year With Frog and Toad with this brilliant cast and crew! His previous performances include Inside Out and Back Again (Brothers, Theatre Bay Area Award nominee for best actor), Fly Guy the Musical (Buzz), and Seussical (Jojo), and Ivy + Bean (Eric/Dad) with Bay Area Children's Theatre. Other Bay Area local performances include Gypsy (Georgie), Hunchback of Notre Dame (Gargoyle), How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Mr. Gatch), and Hair (Woof) with Bay Area Musicals, and The Music Man (Tommy Djilas) at Berkeley Playhouse.

STEVEN ENNIS (Toad) is a local performer excited to make his PLAY Theatre debut. Previously, he has worked with Bay Area theatre companies such as Ray of Light, Pacifica Spindrift Players, Hillbarn Theatre, Palo Alto Players, Broadway by the Bay, and FOGG Theatre. His most recent performances include Barry Glickman in The Prom (PSP), Laika Virgin in Everybody’s Talking about Jamie (RoL), and Emory in Boys in the Band (PSP).

MAIA CAMPBELL (Turtle, Bird 2, Mole, Squirrel) is overjoyed to be making her debut with PLAY Theater Company. Most recently, she appeared in Ray of Light Theater’s production of Next to Normal (Natalie Goodman). Other favorite Bay Area credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Olive Ostrovsky) with TheatreWorks Silicon Valley and Fun Home (Medium Alison) with Berkeley Playhouse. She graduated this past February from MIT with a Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts. KAELA MARIANO (Snail, Bird 1, Lizard, Mole) is a passionate performer, director, and teaching artist. She has appeared at 6th Street Playhouse as Jovie in Elf: The Musical and understudied Amalia Balash in She Loves Me. At Spreckels Theater Company, she played Petra in A Little Night Music, Ermengarde in Hello, Dolly!, Lucy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and performed in the ensembles of Tuck Everlasting, The Music Man, and Matilda. Other credits include Guys and Dolls, Violet, Mary in It’s a Wonderful Life (6th Street Playhouse), and Maria in West Side Story. Directing credits include Mamma Mia (Technology High School) and The Little Mermaid JR, Willy Wonka JR, and High School Musical JR at the JCCSF, where she is a year-round educator. Kaela previously taught with 6th Street Studio and now works as a private vocal coach in Sonoma County. Frog and Toad marks her first production outside of Sonoma County!

JULIA WRIGHT (Mouse, Bird 3, Mole, Squirrel) is ecstatic to be making her PLAY Theatre Company debut in this production of a Year With Frog and Toad! These books hold a special place in her heart, and she is honored to have the chance to bring them to life. You may have recently seen her performing in Pacific Overtures at the Brava Theatre Center, wielding a sword in She Kills Monsters with Plethos Productions, or originating the role of Mia in the staged reading of the new musical Love U. When Julia is not performing on stage, you can find her leading storytime at her day job as a librarian in the seaside town of Pacifica.
