Ending our season on a purrrrfect high note with your favorite mischevious and musical cat, Pete! This family friendly musical is bound to have you leaving the theater singing your favorite song and dancing out the door.

About the Show

For Pete the Cat, life is an adventure no matter where you wind up. So the minute the groovy blue cat meets The Biddles, he gets the whole family rocking. That is, except for young Jimmy Biddle, the most organized second grader on planet Earth.

But when Jimmy draws a blank in art class during the last week of school, it turns out Pete is the perfect pal to help him out. Together, they set out on a mission to help Jimmy conquer second grade art, and along the way, they both learn a little something new about inspiration. Join Jimmy and Pete on an adventure of friendship, all the way to Paris and back in a VW Bus!

This musical is great for all ages! Toddlers are welcome to dance in the balcony or in the aisles…and be prepared for some audience interaction!

All performances take place at The Children’s Creativity Museum in SAN FRANCISCO, in the Creativity Theatre. Click HERE for more information and directions.

Meet the Cast!

Jack Sale (he/him) is thrilled to be back on stage! He was last seen playing Freddy in the brand-new musical Shady Manor. A globe-trotting performer, Jack brought the magic of Pasek and Paul’s James and the Giant Peach to life as James at the Shanghai Children's Art Theater in China and at BACT. Other whimsical favorites include the straw-stuffed Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz (Diablo Theater Company), the nature-whispering Dickon in The Secret Garden (CCCT), and the high-stepping Tulsa in Gypsy (CCCT). He even shimmied as Carmen Miranda, in a 10-foot fruit hat, at Lincoln Center in Christmas with the Crawfords. Jack has also collaborated with A.C.T., Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and Cal Shakes. A Summa Cum Laude grad of UCLA’s Ray Bolger Musical Theater Program, he splits his time between documentary film production for HBO, playwriting, and professional hand modeling. He dusted off his Lawrence Ferlinghetti "A Coney Island of the mind" to brush up on his beatnik vibes for Pete. Don't quit your daydreams!

Mason Tang (he/him) is beyond delighted and grateful to be making his Bay Area musical theater debut with PLAY Theatre company! As a recovering overachiever who is (re)discovering the joy of creativity and artistic expression, he feels a lot in common with Jimmy Biddle. Mason is an actor, dancer, and singer who has previously performed and trained with Funkanometry SF, Training Ground, The Galen Hooks Method, The Bureau of Non-Verbal Communication, Googapella, and as much karaoke as he can get away with. Outside of the theater, Mason is a professional coach, former engineering manager, runner, powerlifter, baker, partner, and father of two wonderful kids who keep reminding him what joy and unconditional love are all about. Devon La Bar (they/them) is absolutely thrilled to perform in their first show with PLAY! Devon has performed and worked technical elements throughout the Bay Area with various theatre companies, focusing on children’s musicals and Shakespeare shows. When not performing as an actor, Devon directs and instructs musicals, Shakespeare shows, and Improv with Tomorrow Youth Repertory in Alameda. They also are a huge Dungeons and Dragons fanatic, playing and running TTRPGs whenever given the opportunity. However, when not finding new ways to play games and build collaborative storytelling, Devon enjoys writing and developing comics, designing digital art pieces, and spending time with their pets, Enzo and Navi. Building and fostering community within the arts is something that Devon strives to be a part of. They are so thankful for the opportunity to share their joy and passion with everyone.

Chloë Angst (they/she) survives and thrives in the Bay Area as a stage and screen actor, artist, musician, songwriter, theatremaker, sewist, screen printer, embalmer, and anthropologist. Recent musical theatre credits include the title role in Lizzie (6th Street Playhouse), Mae in Reefer Madness (Lucky Penny), Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music (Berkeley Playhouse), Pythio in Head Over Heels (City Lights Theater Company), Mazeppa in Gypsy (Palo Alto Players), and Reza in Once (Hillbarn Theatre). When not creating or performing, they enjoy taking their friend Cletus the cockatiel on outdoor adventures. www.chloeangst.com

Shannon Ferry (she/her) after building on two decades of live performance as a musician, Shannon has recently transitioned her love of the stage to acting! Whether she’s belting out Blue Moon as a femme fatale in Mystery at the Dirty Bird, portraying a dramatic mother in the film Roadside Battles or landing laughs as an improv comedian in her troupe Sketchy at Best, Shannon brings big energy and lots of heart to every role. She is especially excited to be part of Pete the Cat the Musical at the Children’s Creativity Museum, as this is where she first introduced her own kids to the joy of theater!
