Meet the Founder

  • Annie Clark, Founder and Executive Director

    Broadway actress, award-winning arts educator, and mother to two amazing kids, Annie is thrilled to be embracing her passion for cultivating the next generation of theatre lovers by founding P.L.A.Y. Theatre Company. Her Broadway credits include High Fidelity the Musical (Penny/Backup Chick, Original Broadway Cast) and Hairspray (LouAnn/Amber understudy), along with the 1st National Tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie (Miss Dorothy) and regional work including Pippin (Catherine, Berkeley Playhouse) and Snow White: An Enchanting New Musical (Original Cast, Disneyland).

    Annie is still an active, working actress on Bay Area stages. This spring she was honored with the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle (SFBATCC) Award for Principal Performer in a Musical, in a house of 300+ seats, for her performance as Diana Goodman in Ray of Light Theatre's Next to Normal. ‍

    Since moving to the Bay Area in 2013, Annie dove headfirst into the world of children's theatre as a teaching artist and eventually Director of Education for Bay Area Children's Theatre, leading a team of over 50 Teaching Artists with programming in 19 cities across the Bay Area. From the fall of 2020 to spring of 2023 she led the team at 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa through the pandemic as Managing Director, building a thriving education program and award-winning seasons on the main stage. She then had the honor of working with Marin Theatre as Director of Development before deciding to pursue her own passions for Theatre for Young Audiences.

    Beyond her role as Founder and Executive Director, Annie brings her full artistry to PLAY's stages each season, directing, choreographing, and designing costumes for our productions. Our kids need theatre and the magic that can spark when you ignite your imagination!

  • Board President


    Hannah is a nationally recognized educator, performer, director and choreographer, and fundraiser who has dedicated her career to bringing the arts to children throughout the Bay Area and beyond.  She has extensive experience creating new works for young audiences and developing educational programming for mainstream and special day classes. Hannah has led educational initiatives at San Francisco Opera and Bay Area Children’s Theater and others and is a former professor at  the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  She lectures regularly in best practices in classroom management, inclusion in the arts and healing informed teaching practices.  Hannah holds a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and did her graduate work in Music and Music Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College.  She is currently the Director of Development for Richmond Promise.  Hannah is a founding Board Member of PLAY Theatre Company.

  • Secretary

    Erica is a founding board member and resident music director of PLAY Theatre Company! After training to be a choir director and music teacher in Minnesota, Erica taught in international schools in Ecuador and the Philippines. She came to the Bay Area for graduate school in 2004. Since then, Erica has taught voice extensively at many schools, choirs and theatre companies. She enjoys performing as a soloist when her schedule allows. Erica founded Trinity Voice Studio in 2006 and is proud to support singers in their musical endeavors throughout the Bay Area!  Erica joined the Board of PLAY Theatre Company in 2024.

  • I am Co-Active certified professional coach and facilitator, a former engineering leader (Google, Airtable, Grammarly), hip-hop dancer, singer, baker, parent, and many other identities. I’ve worked on some of the largest-scale software systems on the planet, performed with dance groups across the Bay Area, learned to love marathon running and powerlifting, spent three months making sourdough at a bakery, and grappled with the sheer terror and joy of raising a child. I’m constantly trying new things but the one constant in my life is my love of helping people grow through warmth, curiosity, and a borderline unhinged sense of optimism and playfulness.


  • Treasurer

    Ben is a founding board member and Treasurer of PLAY Theatre Company. In his professional career, he serves as Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Artiva Biotherapeutics, where he leads global strategy for advanced cell therapy programs and brings extensive leadership and organizational experience to complex initiatives. Benjamin also brings strong financial and operational expertise as co-owner of Circus Academy New York, where he helps guide the business strategy of a thriving performing arts training organization. In addition, he is deeply committed to education and community leadership, having served as President of the School Board at Woodland Star Charter School, where he focused on supporting innovative early childhood education while meeting the California state curriculum standards. Benjamin brings a blend of strategic leadership, financial stewardship, and passion for the arts to his role with PLAY Theatre Company.

  • Janet is an experienced investment professional with more than two decades of leadership in wealth and asset management, advising high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutions on strategic investment planning and portfolio management. She is currently a Managing Director of Asset Management at Wells Fargo, and has held senior roles with Wells Fargo and Abbot Downing, specializing in multi-asset portfolio strategy and long-term financial stewardship. Janet earned her bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation through the CFA Institute. She is also a dedicated supporter of arts education and has served in leadership roles with organizations such as Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir and Bay Area Children's Theatre. As a member of the PLAY Theatre Company Board of Directors, she brings strong financial expertise and a passion for expanding access to live theatre for children and families.  Janet joined the board of PLAY Theatre Company in November of 2025.

  • Theresa is a Bay Area Teaching Artist and Actor. She has taught after-school workshops using theatre to build leadership skills with elementary age girls with Girls Leadership and spent seven summers with Go Girls! as a play director and camp director. Theresa has taught Shakespeare to elementary and high school students, mentored incarcerated youth in playwriting workshops with Each One Reach One, taught residencies at San Francisco elementary schools with StageWrite and has helped train medical students at Stanford and UCSF playing a patient for them to learn interpersonal skills. She teaches and performs Theatre because it is her favorite way to build confidence, create empathy, increase literacy and because she believes in the power of play in community. As an actor, Theresa has worked with a variety of companies including Berkeley Rep, New Conservatory, and Word for Word. Theresa studied at Shakespeare and Company in Lenox, MA and earned her degree in Theatre at Sonoma State University. Nowadays she cares for her daughter and  is a hardcore advocate for providing quality theatre to young audiences. Theresa proudly joined the Board of PLAY Theatre Company in September of 2025.
